Day 19 - Farmington to Monticello

Leaving behind the kind hospitality and saying our goodbyes to Justin's grandparents we headed towards southern Utah. Not too far into our drive we saw the Shiprock. To the best of Justin's knowledge, migrating Native Americans stopped here when they encountered Shiprock, thinking it was a sign from the spirits. However I noticed that it looked extremely similar to Necrum (see photos below) and we wondered if any inspiration had come from this place when the design for Necrum was originally conceived.

We continued on our journey, until Justin spotted a field full of old cars... all seemed to be the classic cars that he admires, and even from a distance he could name many of the makes and years. He stopped to take photos. Unfortunately being a Sunday the place was closed, otherwise he would have loved to look around. I'm sure he could have spent hours there!

Soon after we began to feel very tired. Our initial plan was to stay at Moab for the night, but because we were so tired we decided to stop at the town before Moab which was a place called Monticello, which just happened to be at the end of that highway 666. It just seemed like any sleepy town, until we went out at about 9:30 pm to get something to eat. We found that no restaurants were open at all and the gas station that was open had little at all. Even the person behind the counter of the gas station seemed to be not completely there, she had a glazed look on her face. But it seemed more than that. I began to feel strange out there and Justin could feel an "empty" feeling about the place. Even places where there were streetlights seemed to be more darker than usual. The next morning, the woman behind the hotel counter said that most places close at 8:00.
