Finally our time in the US was to be over, and we were to begin the next section
of our trip in Australia. After completing our packing and trying to make sure
that we had everything together (including some SoBe we were hoping to be
allowed to take into Australia), we headed to Reno Airport for the first of our
two flights, which was a flight to LA Airport. Although we allowed a couple of
hours to check in, as you are meant to do when flying, we found that there was
no one in the queue. So after going through the security checks (Justin was
asked to "volunteer" for a body search, I wonder what they would have
done if he had refused), we really had nothing more to do than just wait for our
flight.
After a short, but scenic flight, we arrived at LA Airport. However, we were to
find the wait to be even longer, as there was a 5 hour delay from our first
flight to when the flight to Australia left. So wait we did. However we ended up
having to wait with over half a plane full of rich kids who were going on an
"overseas" summer camp on the flight before ours. And noisy they were
too, the longer time went on, the noisier it seemed to get. We were both relived
for them to have left, quiet at last. Finally it was time to board our plane and
to look forward to a long flight ahead and trying to get comfortable in cramped
sleeping conditions.
Four movies, three meals, and many restless hours later we finally arrived at
Melbourne airport. We then "braved" the customs queues as we wondered
if our "smuggled" SoBe would be allowed into Australia. Although
Justin got his through with no problems, I had to go through the quarantine
queue with my SoBe and Gabbit Juice, but both were cleared and we met up with my
parents who were picking me up from the airport. We spent the remainder of the
day just relaxing and headed off to bed early to catch up on much needed sleep.
