Days 45 and 46 - The Final Days

We still had five more days before Justin sadly had to go back to the US. Although we were both traveled out, and didn't really have a need for too much more traveling or looking around. Throughout the trip to Australia, Justin and I had discussed the possibility of re-modeling my room. With pink walls (oh no!) and walls plastered with Metallica pictures and posters still left up to cover up the horrid paint color, it was time for a change. So we decided we would undergo the task of painting it and seeing what else we could get done. For the first part, it meant removing all the posters and the like (don't worry, I intend on keeping Oddworld and Final Fantasy posters up after this is done) which took longer than we thought and we had to look at those walls! Eventually I decided I would like to paint the walls either green or a bluish-green. Strangely enough when I chose my paint color from the hardware store (where else but the store Justin kept laughing at - Bunnings) it ended up being as near to a Mudokon green as possible. Although that was not my intention at the time, the color had just appealed to me. I guess it just shows how much of an Oddworld fan I am! ;)

We were meant to have a meeting with some Melbourne based fans, but we weren't too sure what happened. Surfacing needed to cancel due to education reasons, another fan we just didn't end up hearing from. We were also meant to meet my friend and past Fan of the Month, Elodie. Although a mix up of days and a school concert prevented that from occurring. We headed over to Chadstone Shopping Center to meet, but it was just not meant to be. However we did get to drive through Melbourne's infamous tunnel which is known for leaking. And sure enough we got a drop of water on our windshield!

Back to the bedroom re-modeling, Justin was able to show off even more of his multiple skills by doing a wonderful job in preparing the walls and painting. Some would say he just has a natural ability for such. Although we did complete the painting and the re-arranging of the furniture, I am now left with putting all my junk back ... um, I mean sorting out my junk and throwing out what I don't want.

I also was sure to take Justin along to a game of Australian Rules Football at the MCG while I was here. Although he isn't a huge fan of sports and did not understand the game at all, he found great entertainment in the crowd, and the cold. Okay, maybe not the cold. We sat in an area where the "yobbos" sit called the Ponsford Stand. For those unfamiliar with the Australian slang term Yobbo, a yobbo is basically a loud and ruly person, usually male, who drinks a lot of beer. The tend to make a lot of funny comments at the football. Oh and then there's those who get "escorted" out of the ground by security or even the police constable. Lots of fun for the whole family in the Ponsford Stand! Oh, and my team unfortunately lost.

So now the Odd Tour has come to an end. I must bid a sad and teary farewell to Justin who I have enjoyed spending these last 7 weeks with. Justin is such a wonderful person, and we will both miss each other immensely. It has been the best time of my life and something we would both love to do again. And who knows, maybe we will get to meet some of you other Oddworld fans on future Odd Tours. We would sure love to do that.

And we'd just like to thank everyone. From the fans who took interest in the Odd Tour to Oddworld Inhabitants who mentioned us in their latest Alf fan mail. Thank you all so much. It means a lot to the both of us to have your support.
